Paul Evans started his career in music early
on in his life. He began songwriting at the age of 3 and had
his first band at the age of 11. That's when he started
playing drums professionally! He cut his first record at the
mere age of 14.
Music has always been an important part of
Paul's life, but it was an experience while working as a
fire fighter that brought his gift to Country music. While
showering in Station #1 of the Houston, TX Fire Dept., of
which he was a member of the Haz-Mat Team for 5 years, he
heard John Conley sing "Miss Emily's Picture", and was
hooked ever since!
While living in Houston, TX, Paul had written
a song called "Cajun Woman" that recorded by Molly Hatchet,
but, sadly, the band broke up prior to its release.
In 1984, after moving to NJ, he started a
band called "Jersey South", as well as Mount Misery Music.
He met the love of his life in 1987, a wonderful and
beautiful singer named Cookie. In 1988 he moved to Nashville
and wrote, "Your Sinnin' Soul" which Cookie recorded on
Stargem Records, and watched it sky rocket to #28
nationally.
Paul's first major cut came in 1989 with "The
Pain Growin' Old Can Bring", recorded by Eddie Thompson.
He played on "The Hall of Fame Show" and
"Marty Martel and Tennessee" 1990-1995, opening for such
stars as Tom Wopat, Grandpa Jones, Little Jimmy Dickens,
Jett Williams and the Drifting Cowboys, Kitty Wells, Tommy
Cash etc.. Paul started Studio Park Records, INC in 1998.
Releasing three albums on Cookie Evans, Samantha Berry, and
Billy Harner. He had 16 songs chart nationally and
internationally from the three CDs, and wrote or co-wrote
all of the material on the projects.
In 2000 Paul was signed as a staff writer for
Eidetic Records / Eidetic Music Nashville.
He had the song "Cape Lonely" recorded by
Michael Mason on Eidetic Records. www.michaelmasonmusic.com
The song was the first release from the CD and charted
nationally at #31. The song went all the way to #1 in NINE
radio markets here in the US. Cape Lonely is now on three
karaoke CDs and is the theme anthem for St. Jude's Hospital
in Memphis, TN.
Also 2002 brought him to record, arrange and
produce the album "Glory Ground" in Nashville, TN. The song,
"Glory Ground" will be featured on a up-coming History
Channel Special.
To date Paul has written three books of
poetry, has composed over 600 songs, and has published over
125 songs thru MOUNT MISERY MUSIC, BMI. EIGHT of the songs
from his catalog are currently being broadcast on MUZAK and
DISH CD. He is known to roam and haunt the Pine Barrens
Region of Southern New Jersey with his Band, "PAUL EVANS &
THE PINE HILLBILLIES". If you hear a howl at the moon, it
might not be the Jersey Devil, but Paul himself singing
about (and tasting) the cranberry wine and pine barren's
moonshine. This year, 2003, Paul is scheduled to record a CD
of his material in Nashville. Also, Paula James will be
releasing his song "If My heart Had My Memory", and is
finalizing papers to cut 4 more of Paul's songs on her next
recording project. Paul will be touring Europe and Australia
this year.
